There are many projects under way in our constant efforts to improve the Centre. Some of our largest and latest projects include:
Standing Stones
Certain stones in the Ring of Kings are memorials to those who have passed from our midst. We all mourn the recent loss of a well loved member of the SCA and friend to us all, known as Count Francois. The Cumberland Centre is taking donations to fund the raising of a new stone in his memory.
Roads
We have recently widened several narrow spots to improve access to the areas in the cedar woods. More can be done, and more foot paths are planned. Certain parts of the roads have received new gravel to firm up areas that have needed special attention, and more road improvements are planned.
Solar Showers
The new showers have been built near the Eastern woodline. See our Photos page for pictures. We will soon install a solar heater there for the comfort of our visitors.
Main Hall
The kitchen has been upgraded with a stainless steel 3-tub sink. Funds are being raised to pour a slab floor, and to install a slab and privacy screen for the small door on the West side. We also have newly revised plans to install large decorative doors, similar to castle gates, at the main entrances on the East and West sides.
The Cumberland Centre always welcomes helpful hands and generous donations. If you can spare an afternoon or a weekend to lend a hand you will be welcomed with open arms. Please call the site manager at (931) 359-5852 for more information.
